The Mustangs got the first goal of the match, in the 41st minute. The second half looked like it was going to be a defensive battle as well, until Northwestern got an equalizer from Jamise Retzlaff. Retzlaff was assisted by Brittany Osborn, it was Retzlaff's second consecutive game with a goal.
After Northwestern evened the score at 1-1, Morningside took over. In the 15 minutes following the Raider goal Morningside was able to score three times to make a close game look like a blow out.
