Northwestern women's soccer heads to Mitchell, South Dakota for their fourth conference game of the year. The Red Raiders are currently tied for first place with a 3-0 record in league play. Dakota Wesleyan brings a 0-3 GPAC record and a 1-8 overall record into today's match. Game time is set for 2:00 p.m. at Cadwell Park.
The Tigers, who have scored one goal all season, are led offensively by Ellie Peterson, who has 11 shots and nine shots on goal. She also scored the only goal for DWU. Ruth Pereira assisted on Peterson's goal and is second on the team with five shots, all five were shots on goal for Pereira. Two women have played in goal for Dakota Wesleyan; Danielle Richardson and Melissa Cowan. Richardson has allowed seven goals and made 32 saves while Cowan has allowed 17 goals and made 49 saves. DWU has been outscored 24-1 in their nine contests and has lost each GPAC contest by three goals or more.
Northwestern comes into the match having won three of their last four games and outscoring the opponents 11-3 in those four games. Sophomore goalkeeper Kelley Salem was named the GPAC/Region III Women's Soccer Defensive Player-of-the-Week this past week for her efforts against Mount Marty and Concordia. She did not allow a goal in either game and made nine saves. Salem has yet to allow a goal in a GPAC match. She has made 65 saves this season and allowed 22 goals. Offensively, Northwestern is led by Macy Rozeboom, she has a team leading four goals and four assists, and an eye popping 42 shots. Allise Vugteveen has scored three goals and registered 11 shots on goal for Northwestern. Brittany Osborn has found the net twice,Serah Bugler, Becca Bruns, and Michelle Power have also scored. Three Raider players have scored game winners; Rozeboom, Osborn, and Bugler.
Next up for Northwestern is the University of Sioux Falls at home next Tuesday in a 2 p.m. match.
