Salem Earns GPAC Soccer Honor

The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following women’s soccer players-of-the-week for September 17-September 23, 2007. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2007-2008 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program.
 
Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Women’s Soccer Players-of-the-Week
Women’s Offense- Maggie Kukuk, Morningside (Forward)

 Morningside forward Maggie Kukuk is the GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Women’s Soccer Offensive Player-of-the-Week. Kukuk, a 5-3 sophomore from Sioux City, posted three goals and four assists on the week as the Mustangs went 2-0. She tied a Morningside single match record with three assists against York College. Morningside is 6-1 on the season.
 
Women’s Defense- Kelley Salem, Northwestern (Keeper)
Northwestern keeper Kelley Salem is the GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Women’s Soccer Defensive Player-of-the-Week. Salem, a 5-8 sophomore from Carroll, Iowa, totaled two shut-outs in goal as the Red Raiders went 2-0 on the week. She now has three consecutive shut-outs in league play including last week’s matches. Salem stopped all nine shots she faced on the week. Northwestern is now 3-5.
