Northwestern drops match to Bellevue

Sep 17, 2007

The women's soccer team fell 3-2 to Bellevue, after leading for over 80 minutes of the match.  Northwestern falls to 1-5 overall but stays 1-0 in GPAC play.  Bellevue improves their record to 2-3-1.  Northwestern made 11 shots and five shots on goal against Bellevue's 14 and nine.  Goalkeeper Kelley Salem made five saves and allowed three goals.

The Red Raiders took a 1-0 lead 9:43 into the match when Macy Rozeboom netted a penalty kick and extended the lead to 2-0 just after the start of the second half when Rozeboom found Becca Bruns for a goal.  Both goals were the first for each player.  Rozeboom has now assisted or scored on all of the Raiders goals this season.  Vannessa Ramos scored an unassisted goal at the 75:00 mark to pull Bellevue within a goal and Priscilla Flores got the game tying goal eight minutes later when Jessica Wachtler gave her a good ball.  Wachtler then scored the go-ahead goal, assisted by Alison Fauble putting the Bruins up 3-2 with under three minutes to play.

Northwestern takes on two GPAC opponents this week, heading to Yankton, S.D. on Tuesday and hosting Concordia on Saturday.
