North Regional Championships

Two Red Raider grapplers were crowned regional champions this past weekend at the region III championships hosted by Dana College in Blair, Neb. Levi Price (149) and Enock Francois (174) won their respective weight classes to take home the title. Price went a perfect 5-0 on the day and defeated Andrew Hare of Hastings College, 2-1, in the championship match. Francois went 3-0 and defeated teammate Tom Eaton, 7-4, in the championship match. Eaton finished with a 2-1 record and a second place finish.

Coach Petty's squad finished in fourth place overall with a total of 96.5 points. Dickinson State won the team title with 174 points while Morningside (111) and Dana (109) finished second and third.

D.J. Jackson finished second at 157 with a 2-1 mark. He defeated two straight opponents to reach the title match but then suffered a hard-fought, 5-4 defeat to Jason Bilinski of Dana in the final bout. Martin Beeler placed fourth at 197 with a 1-2 record while both Lamar Reed and Cole Spree finished in fifth place in their respective weight classes. Reed went 2-2 at 165 and Spree finished with a 3-2 record at 184.

The Red Raiders will next compete at the NAIA Championships in Sioux City, Iowa, on March 6-8.
