Northwestern and Dana faced off yesterday in a GPAC wrestling dual. Northwestern trailed early due to forfeits of the 125/133 weight classes and a 5-1 loss by decision at 141 by Clay Wakefield but stormed back from 0-15 to take a 19-15 lead behind a pin by Levi Price, a major decision by DJ Jackson, a 3-2 win by decision over #5 Bulla Tuzon by Lamar Reed, and a forfeit by Dana at 174 lbs. to Enock Francois. With Tom Eaton, Cole Spree, and Martin Beeler left to wrestle Northwestern was clinging to their four point lead. Eaton, however, couldn't manage a victory losing 10-9 by decision and Dana pulled within one at 19-18. Spree then lost by major decision to Johnathon Justice and Northwestern then trailed 22-19 and needed a victory by Beeler to keep their GPAC title hopes alive. Beeler was unable to get a victory losing 11-5, sealing at least a share of the conference title for Dana and pushing Northwestern to 6-6 overall and 2-2 in the GPAC. The Raiders will take on York and Hastings on Jan. 31st in Hastings, Nebr., the first dual is scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m.
