Tyler Halvorson (Brookings, S.D.) has signed a letter of intent to continue his wrestling career at Northwestern College this fall. He will also play football for the Red Raiders as announced in an earlier release.

Halvorson is a 6’4”, 190-pound grappler who earned four letters while wrestling for the Sioux Valley High School wrestling team. He was named the team’s most valuable wrestler after posting an 18-14 record his senior year. Halvorson won the district championship and is projected to wrestle at 197 for head wrestling coach Rik Dahl’s squad. He plans to major in agri-business and is the son of Al and Ann.

“We are excited to have Tyler join our wrestling program,” commented head coach Rik Dahl. “His maturity will help our young team. As a senior at Sioux Valley, he was named team MVP and this is a tribute to his work ethic and leadership. We see Tyler adding to our depth at the bigger weights and with his height, he will bring a unique style to the mat.”
