The Red Raiders fell to #19 in the latest NAIA poll released Tuesday, Jan. 19. Northwestern is ranked behind Dana (10) and Morningside (16) in the GPAC and just ahead of Dakota Wesleyan (20). The Red Raiders defeated Concordia last night 30-22 in a GPAC dual in Seward, Nebr.
Levi Price and Nic Leither were the only Red Raiders to be ranked in their weight class, Price came in at #8 in the 149 lbs. class while Leither was #6 at 197 lbs.
In the North Group rankings, Northwestern came in fourth with eight wrestlers ranked in the top six of the group. At 141, Matt Dowell was ranked 5th. Levi Price was the Raiders top ranked wrestler, ranking #1 at 149 lbs. Nate Halpin also was ranked at 149 lbs, ranking sixth. Brian Heiberger is ranked fifth at 157 lbs and Luke Evjen is ranked third at 165 lbs. David Carter and Nic Leither, both champions at the Paul Bartlett/Red Raider Open, were ranked sixth and second respectively at 174 lbs., and 197 lbs. Brad Hughes is ranked fourth in the North Group's heavyweight class.
Northwestern takes on Dana Friday and Morningside on Saturday in the Bultman Center in GPAC duals; the Morningside dual is a rescheduled dual from the December 8th postponement.
