Jerod Flores (Earp, Calif.) and Diego Angelo Quintana (Selma, Calif.) have signed letters of intent to continue their wrestling careers at Northwestern College beginning next fall.

Flores is a 5’6”, 140-pound grappler who wrestled four years for Parker High School. He recorded a perfect 60-0 record his senior year, capped by the Flores2009 State Championship. During his career, Flores registered an Arizona state record of 156 pins and was a four-time state finalist. He amassed a 222-14 career match record and was named the most outstanding wrestler and was regional champion four consecutive years. Flores earned the Principal’s Academic Honor and is the son of Sonia Duke.

“The addition of Jerod is exciting for us and our Red Raider wrestling program,” commented head coach Rik Dahl. “He adds a style that is explosive and fun to watch. Jerod had an incredible prep career, winning the Arizona state title this past year and his 156 career falls is outstanding. A team can win national championships with bonus points and Jerod brings that potential to our team. We are excited to have him on board.”

Quintana is a 5’3”, 112-pounder who wrestled four years for Selma High School. Quintana recorded a 151-34 career record and qualified for state all four years. He finished sixth with an impressive 46-9 record his senior year, leading his team to a second place finish at the state meet. He finished the year rated ninth in the national rankings. Quintana was also a four-time league champion and three-time winner of the CIF Division II Valley Finalist. He was the recipient of the 2009 Selma Hall-of-Fame Award. A four-year member of the honor roll, Quintana plans to major in kinesiology at Northwestern. He is the son of Diego and Laura.Quintana

“We are ecstatic to have Angelo join our team,” commented Dahl. “He brings a successful prep career, capped with a sixth place finish in the very competitive California state tournament, to Northwestern.
