Northwestern vs. York
Northwestern and York took the mat on Thursday evening in Hastings, Neb. for the Hastings Triangular. York took an early 6-0 lead on a Northwestern forfeit at 125 lbs. Both teams were open at 133 lbs. Clay Wakefield faced Brody Mayberry in the first match of the dual at 141 lbs. and won by injury default pulling the Raiders even with York at 6-6. York then forfeited the next two weight classes allowing Northwestern to pull ahead 18-6. David Carter pinned Clayton Davis in 1:42 to put the Raiders ahead 24-6. The next three matches were decided by decision Tom Eaton over Ryan Kromer, 11-5, Cole Spree over Trey Jackson 10-6, and Tyler Phipps over Martin Beeler 3-2. Northwestern forfeited the heavyweight division put held on to win 30-15 over York, improving to 7-6 overall.
Northwestern vs. Hastings
Northwestern and Hastings entered Thursday evening's match in the top half of the conference, Hastings at 2-1 and Northwestern at 2-2. Both teams defeated York in earlier duals and were facing each other in the "championship." Northwestern forfeited the 125/133 lb. weight classes allowing Hastings to take an early 12-0 lead. Clay Wakefield lost by fall in 1:48 and Northwestern trailed 18-0 three matches in. With the best Raider wrestlers on deck Northwestern started to climb back into it. Levi Price, DJ Jackson, Lamar Reed, Tom Eaton, and Cole Spree all won their matches by decision and Jackson won his match by major decision 14-4. Northwestern trailed 16-18 going into the 197 lb. match between Enock Francois and Brandon Hudibaugh. Francois lost by decision 2-1 and Martin Beeler dropped the heavyweight match getting pinned in 4:12 giving Hastings a 27-16 dual victory. Northwestern fell to 7-7 overall and 2-2 in the GPAC.
