Rik Dahl looks over his Northwestern wrestling program and is pleased with the direction it is going. Two years ago he may not have been able to say that. Dahl watched his team lose 11 of 14 duals it took part in and it had the competitive coach, a former All-American for the Red Raiders in 1997, rethinking more than a few things.

Dante Preciado earned All-American honors after going 4-1 on day one of the NAIA Wrestling National Championships. He finished in 8th place at 141 lbs. for Northwestern.
Five Red Raider wrestlers have been named to the All-GPAC wrestling teams today highlighted by Dante Preciado (141), Andras Lukacs-Farkas (174), and Luis Rivera-Santiago (197) who were each named to the All-GPAC First Team.
Six Red Raiders have qualified for the NAIA Wrestling National Championship, presented by USA Wrestling-Kansas.The 60th annual event takes place March 3 – 4 at the Kansas Expocentre in Topeka, Kan. The first of four sessions is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. CST on March 3.

State Champion Tanner Stamper-Smith of Havelock High School was presented the 16th Annual James Johnson Award as the best scholastic wrestler in eastern North Carolina in 2016. The award is named in honor of three time national champion James Johnson.
Tanner Stamper-Smith (Havelock, N.C.) has signed a letter of intent to continue his wrestling career at Northwestern College next fall.
