Northwestern and Doane tied 19-19 after all the matches were complete, but fell 20-19 after the third tie breaker decided awarded Doane one point since they had scored 52 total match points against Northwestern's 51 match points.
Randy Null and Richard Ortiz lead Raiders at Auggie-Adidas Open. Null finished in second place of the Gold Division's 184 lb. weight class while Ortiz won a consolation championship in the Gold Division at 133 lbs.
The Northwestern wrestling team will compete in the Augsburg Open on Saturday in Minneapolis, Minn. The Red Raiders will send 16 wrestlers to compete in one of three divisions (gold, silver, bronze).
Seniors JL Mayo and Richard Ortiz were mentioned in the latest NAIA poll as one of the top 16 wrestlers at their weight in the nation.
Tyree Cox paced the Raider wrestling team on Saturday, finishing sixth at the Dakota Wesleyan Open in Mitchell, S.D. Northwestern sent 18 wrestlers to the Open.
