NWC Wraps Up Regular Season at Morningside

Northwestern (6-9-2, 4-3-2) wraps up the regular season today in Sioux City when they take on Morningside (5-9-2, 3-4-1). Kickoff is scheduled for 5:30pm. Northwestern has just one loss in their last five matches while Morningside has one loss in their last four matches. 

Scouting Morningside:

The Mustangs are currently tied for 8th place in the GPAC standings with two conference games remaining. They have been out-scored 27-22 this season in 16 matches but have out-shot their opponents 189-184, and 96-95 in shots on goal. Amy Grause has scored seven goals to lead the team and is tied for the team lead with 16 points. Amy Samuelson has scored six goals and made four assists and is tied with Grause with 16 points. Hope Forman, three goals, is the only other Mustang with multiple goals. Kristina Sorenson, Kensly Schuelke, and Breanna Van Bochove each have made three assists and are second on the team in assists behind Amy Samuelson.

Britney Kleinhesselink and Nicole McGuire have both seen significant time in goal for Morningside this season. McGuire has played 543 minutes and has allowed ten goals while making 29 saves. Kleinhesselink has allowed 17 goals and made 37 saves in 953 minutes.

Morningside will play Doane on the final day of the GPAC schedule, Nov. 1st.

Scouting Northwestern:

The Red Raiders are currently sitting in fourth place in the GPAC standings. NWC has been out-scored 37-25 this season and has been out-shot 305-215 and 156-115 in shots on goal. Tyler Farr has scored a team best 13 goals and is tied for the team lead with five assists. Farr is tied for fourth in the GPAC in goals scored and tied for fifth in assists. Mattie Ostrowski is tied with Farr for the team lead with five assists, she has also scored two goals. Jahdai Dunk has scored three goals and has made three assists. Madison Bertman has scored three goals and has two assists.

Naomi Schimmel has started 12 games in goal and has made 71 saves while allowing 21 goals. She has made four shut-outs this season. Jennifer Inge has made five starts in goal and has made 48 saves and allowed 16 goals.

The seeding for the GPAC Tournament will be released after all of the GPAC matches have been completed. The final scheduled day is Saturday.
