NWC and Concordia Battle for GPAC Positioning

Northwestern (5-8-1, 3-2-1) and Concordia (9-2-2, 3-0-2) face-off Saturday in a match between the second place and third place teams in the GPAC standings. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:00pm in Seward, Neb.

Scouting Concordia

Concordia is currently on a five game unbeaten streak picking up three wins and two ties in their last five matches.The Bulldogs have out-scored their opponents 30-12 this season and have more than twice as many shots, at 240-113 overall and 125-61 in shots on goal. Jessica Skerston is tied for third in the GPAC in goals scored, with 12. Melissa Stine has made five assists and is tied for fourth in the GPAC. Esther Soenksen has scored four goals and is tied with Stine for second most on the Bulldog roster. Seven other players have scored for Concordia. Ashlie Sklenicka has made four assists and is second on the team in that category.

Goalkeeper Chrissy Lind has started 12 matches and has allowed 12 goals while making 49 saves. She currently is fourth in the GPAC with a 0.960 goals against average and has five shut-outs this season.

Scouting Northwestern

NWC is on a two game winning streak and has only lost once in their last six matches.The Red Raiders have been out-scored 32-22 this season and are currently trailing opponents 192-233 in overall shots and 104-125 in shots on goal. Tyler Farr has led the offense this season, scoring 12 goals and making four assists. She is tied for third in the GPAC in goals scored. Mattie Ostrowski has made five assists and is tied for fourth in assists. Madison Bertman has scored three goals and has made two assists and trails only Farr (28) and Ostrowski (9) with eight points. Jahdai Dunk has scored twice and has three assists this season.

Naomi Schimmel has started nine games in goal and has made 45 saves while allowing 16 goals. She is seventh in the GPAC with a 1.890 goals against average and currently has made two shut-outs.

Northwestern returns home for two matches next week, facing Dordt on Tuesday and Hastings on Saturday.
