Northwestern (1-2) hosts Mount Mercy (4-1) in a non-conference match starting at 4:00pm at the NWC Soccer Complex. Northwestern is looking for their second consecutive win after knocking off the Univ. of Northwestern-St. Paul on Saturday by the score of 5-1.
Scouting Mount Mercy
The Mustangs have scored 12 goals in five games and have allowed seven goals. They have out-shot their opponents 105-48 and 67-21 in shots on goal. Danielle Herdliska leads the team with three goals. Both Brittany Mielke and Cally Salter have scored twice this season. Lauren Konchar leads the Mustang offense with seven points on one goal and five assists. Goalkeeper Hannah Scroeder has made 14 saves and has allowed seven goals. She has also posted two shutouts in five matches.
The Red Raiders have scored five goals in three games and have allowed nine goals so far in 2014. The Red Raiders have been out-shot 43-37 and 23-17 in shots on goal. Tyler Farr has the hot foot for Northwestern, picking up three goals in the Raiders' last match. Mattie Ostrowski has made two assists this season. Naomi Schimmel and Jennifer Inge have both seen action in goal for NWC. Schimmel has made six saves and has allowed three goals while Inge has made eight saves and allowed six goals.
Northwestern will travel to Salt Lake City, Utah over the weekend to face Westminster (Utah) on Friday and Corban (Ore.) on Saturday.
