Red Raiders Battle Tigers in GPAC Soccer

Northwestern (5-6-2, 2-2-1) takes on Dakota Wesleyan (4-7-1, 1-3) in a GPAC women's soccer match. Northwestern knocked off Mt. Marty in their last match, 3-0, and hasn't lost in their last three games. DWU is on a two game skid, falling to Hastings 7-0 and Morningside 7-1.

Tyler Farr and Alyssa Duren lead Northwestern with seven points a piece. Farr has two goals and three assists while Duren has three goals and one assist. Jahdai Dunk has scored three goals and is tied with Duren for the team lead. Jo Jensen is tied with Farr for the team lead with three assists this season. Northwestern has been out-shot 217-174 this season and 117-90 in shots on goal. The Raiders have scored 16 goals and allowed 17 this season.

Ariel Watts has made 100 saves on the year and picked up her fifth shutout of the 2013 season, giving her a NWC school record 14 in her career. She is currently fourth all-time in career saves with 374. Her goals against average is currently 1.27.

Dakota Wesleyan has scored 22 goals this season, nine by Thara Ali Said. Linsey Peterson has scored four goals while Maranda Ehrenfried and Autumn Vigil have both scored three goals. Ali Said leads the team with three assists this season. DWU has been out-shot 251-176 on the year and 148-105 in shots on goal. They have allowed 36 goals, 14 in their last two matches.

Erika Carpenter lead the team with 97 saves. She has allowed 33 of the 36 goals this season and has a goals against average of 3.00.

Northwestern will resume play next Saturday at home against Concordia University. The women's match will start at 3:00pm.
