Red Raiders To Co-Host Two-Day Event

The Event...Northwestern College will co-host a two-day, 36-hole event, the NC/DC Invite, on April 20-21. Thursday's competition will begin with a 10am shotgun start at Landsmeer Golf Club in Orange City, Iowa. Friday's final round will be hosted by Dordt College and will be held at The Ridge. 

Teams Competing...Briar Cliff, Dordt and Morningside will all have two teams competing while Dakota Wesleyan and Northwestern will field one team. Mount Marty will come down and compete on Friday only.

Last Time Out...Jamie Altena carded a career-best round in leading Northwestern to a second place finish at the Morningside Invite played last week at the Whispering Creek Golf Club in Sioux City, Iowa. 

Playing in their second meet of the spring, the Red Raiders carded their best score of the year (341), seven shots in back of first place Morningside (334). They tied Mount Marty for second place out of eight teams. Briar Cliff (349) placed fourth while Midland and Nebraska Wesleyan tied for fifth with a 361. 

Two Red Raiders placed in the top 10, led by Altena with a career-best finish (t7th) and score (82). The junior's previous best was an 85 at the third GPAC Qualifier last spring. Mikayla Christensen tied for 10th with an 85, her second best round of the season. Courtney Hummel tied for 12th with an 86, followed by Chanda Zomermaand (T17th-88) and Anna Perrenoud (T39th-98). 

Line-Up...Northwestern has a 356.7 scoring average and has finished in the top five in all seven events played. They currently have the ninth lowest season average in program history.

Courtney Hummel leads the Red Raiders with an 88.3 scoring average this season, 15th lowest all-time. Chanda Zomermaand has an 89 average in her first season with the Red Raiders. Both players have one top 10 finish this season.
