The Event...Northwestern College will play in the second GPAC Qualifier on Wednesday, October 2 at the Whispering Creek Golf Club in Sioux City, Iowa. The Red Raiders will begin play at 12:40pm, along with golfers from Morningside and Dakota Wesleyan.

Teams Competing...All 11 conference teams will play in the 72-hole event and will play in groups of three. Northwestern will tee off beginning around 12:40pm, along with golfers from Morningside and Dakota Wesleyan.
Format...The GPAC golf championship consists of four, 18-hole rounds played at four different sites throughout the year, two during the fall season and two in the spring. The top team and top individual after the four rounds win the GPAC Championship and earns the automatic bid to the NAIA women's golf championship held in May. The spring rounds will take place on April 23 (Fremont Country Club) and May 5 (Fox Run Golf Club in Yankton, S.D.)
GPAC Qualifier #1 Results...Northwestern College finished second in the first round of the GPAC Qualifier held on Sept. 10 at the Wild Oak Golf Club in Mitchell, S.D.
The Red Raiders shot a then-school record 328, five strokes better than its previous record of 333 recorded twice, most recently in 2011 at the Dordt Invite. They are 12 shots in back of first round leader, Dakota Wesleyan, with a 316. Morningside (343), Mount Marty (352) and Hastings (354) round out the top five.
Taylor Malenke led Northwestern and is in third place after the first round with a 79 (+7), one shot off her career best. Emma Wynja tied for fourth with an 80 (+8) and Jessica Locker carded a career-best 83 and is in 12th place overall. Betsy Wallin (86) and Courtney Hummel (87) are tied for 16th and tied for 18th, respectively.
Two DWU golfers, Chelsea Burback and Lauren Fitts, are in first and second place with a 75 and 78 respectively.
Northwestern News and Notes...The Red Raiders have finished either first or second in every meet played this fall, winning two (Red Raider Fall and Briar Cliff) and placing second in three. They currently have the lowest team average, 342.6, in the program's history, shattering the old mark (349.5) set during the 2011-12 season.
Emma Wynja leads Northwestern with an 82.7 scoring average, finishing in the top 10 in all five events played this fall. Taylor Malenke sits just behind Wynja with an 82.8 scoring average, winning one event while placing in the top five four times. Betsy Wallin has a scoring average of 86.7 with three top 10 finishes while Courtney Hummel (89.5), Elizabeth De Jong (89.8) and Jessica Locker (90.5) are the other top golfers for NWC.
This ends the fall season for the Red Raiders.
