Red Raiders Fall In Overtime To Mount Marty

Kassidy De Jong matched a career-high with 32 points but Northwestern lost to No. 24 Mount Marty in overtime, 101-92, in a key GPAC match-up played tonight in the Bultman Center.

The Storylines...

Northwestern held the lead for most of the first quarter and had a 19-18 advantage at the first break.

Mount Marty outscored the hosts 11-1 at the start of the second quarter, getting three-pointers from Cassidy Gebhart, Mikayla Prouty and Logan Wagner, to move ahead 29-20.

Northwestern rallied, and following a basket by Katy Kuiper, was down just two, 32-30, with 2:38 left in the half.

Still a two point game, Gebhart knocked down a three-pointer just before the half ended to take a 42-37 lead into halftime.

The Red Raiders came all the way back and led 54-52 following two free throws by Kassidy De Jong midway through the third quarter.

The game was tied at 61 by the end of the third period.

With Northwestern up three (66-63) early in the fourth, Mount Marty outscored the hosts 13-2 over a four-minute stretch for a 76-68 lead inside the five minute mark.

A three-pointer by Renee Maneman sparked a 12-2 Northwestern run that put the hosts in front 80-78 following a three-pointer by Paige Danner at the 1:34 mark.

Two free throws by Gebhart knotted the game at 80 on the Lancers' next possession and both teams failed to score on their final possessions to send the game into overtime.

Raquel Sutera and Wagner knocked down back-to-back three-pointers to start the overtime period and Gebhart scored 12 points in the extra frame as the Lancers never trailed in the final five minutes.
