Scouting Midland...The Warriors are tied with Northwestern for seventh place in the conference standings at 2-4, 5-6 overall. Earning votes in the NAIA D-II preseason poll, Midland began its season with a 3-2 record, followed with three straight losses to Morningside, Mount Marty and Doane and then won two of its last three match-ups, defeating Nebraska Wesleyan and Dakota State and falling to Dakota Wesleyan.
Shawn Gilbert begins his second season as the head coach at Midland, coming to the Warriors after serving as an assistant at the University of Nebraska Lincoln. He returns four starters and eight players off a 2014 team that finished fifth in the GPAC with an 11-9 record, 15-16 overall. They lost to Concordia in the GPAC semifinals and were picked to finish fifth in this year's GPAC preseason poll.
Midland averages 76 points per game, fifth most in the GPAC, and is shooting 42% from the field and 32% from beyond the arc. The Warriors are averaging just over five three-pointers made per game. Defensively, Midland is giving up 72 points per game and own a -4 margin in rebounding.
Jamilah Johnson is one of four Midland players scoring in double figures, averaging 13.6 points per game. Johnson, a first team all-GPAC pick last year, is second on the team with 31 assists and seventh in the GPAC with 26 steals. Newcomer Jaylan Spencer, a transfer from Wayne State, shares team high honors with Johnson at 13.6 points per game. The senior is shooting 45% from the field. Sammi Licari scores 11.3 points per game and ranks third in the NAIA with 46 steals. Dani Anderson leads the team with 27 three-pointers and averages 10.8 points per game.

They are 2-1 over their last three games, earning wins over Mount Marty and Nebraska Wesleyan while losing to Briar Cliff last time out. All but one of the Red Raiders' losses is to ranked teams.
Chris Yaw is in his fourth season as the head and 11th overall season as a coach in the program. He has 89 wins during his tenure and has guided the Red Raiders to three trips to the NAIA D-II National Championship in Sioux City, Iowa, winning the title in 2011-12.
Northwestern is scoring 77 points per game and ranks second in the GPAC in field goal percentage (45%). They are fifth in the conference in points per game given up (69) and rank fourth in rebounding (+6).
Karen Ettleman leads the GPAC in scoring, averaging 24 points per game, and ranks second in the conference in field goal percentage (46%). The senior passed Samantha (Kleinsasser) Van Gorp for 14th place all-time in the career scoring list last time out. Ettleman also leads the team in rebounding (6.2) and steals (26). Paige O'Neal scores 10.2 points per game and leads the GPAC with 59 assists. Junior Arianne Gesell scores nine points per game and is shooting 69% from the field. Renee Maneman scores 6.2 points per game and has dished out 37 assists.
