All-Time...Northwestern is 8-2 over the last 10 games against the Chargers, sweeping all three meetings last year. The Red Raiders lead the all-time series 50-30, dating back to the 1977 season.

Scouting Briar Cliff...The Chargers are in fourth place in the GPAC with a 3-2 record, 5-4 overall. Earning votes in the Dec. 2 poll, Briar Cliff dropped out of the rankings after going 1-1 last week. They earned a 73-42 home win over Dordt but lost to Hastings 61-52 in Sioux City. BCU has wins over Doane and Dakota Wesleyan and a tough 10-point loss on the road against #3 Concordia.

Mike Power is in his 15th overall and ninth straight season as the Chargers head coach, having also served in the role from 19998. Already the winningest coach in the program's history, Power is closing in on 300 wins. He guided the Chargers to a seventh place finish last year, ending with a 14-17 overall record. Power returns nearly everyone off last year's roster.

Briar Cliff averages 67 points per game and is shooting 40% as a team, 27% from beyond the arc. The Chargers are one of the top defensive teams in the GPAC, giving up 60 points per game and ranking 15th in the NAIA with 114 steals.

Jessi Corrick is one of two Chargers' players scoring in double figures, averaging a team-high 11 points per game. Corrick also leads the team with 25 assists. Mattie Murren averages 10.2 points per game and returns after an injury-ridden 2013-14 season. Murren has made 18 three-pointers this year and was a first team all-GPAC pick in 2012-13. Slone Masters scores 8.3 points, ranks second on the team in rebounding (4.2) and leads the team with 30 steals, 11th most in the NAIA. Masters was a first team all-GPAC pick last year. Kaylee Blake, an honorable mention all-GPAC pick, and Lexi Henschke both average around eight points per game.

Northwestern News and Notes...The Red Raiders defeated Mount Marty and Nebraska Wesleyan last week to improve to 2-3 in the GPAC, 6-4 overall. They also have wins over Roosevelt, Dakota State, Grand View and Grace (Neb.). All four of their losses are to teams ranked in this week's coaches poll.

Northwestern is scoring 79 points per game, third most in the conference, and are one of the top shooting teams in the NAIA at 45%. They rank third in rebounding (+6) and are giving up 68 points per game.

Karen Ettleman leads the GPAC in scoring at 24 points per game, third best in the NAIA. Shooting 46% from the field, Ettleman has scored in double figures in every game and needs 16 points to pass Samantha (Kleinsasser) Van Gorp for 14th all-time in career scoring. The senior also leads the team in rebounding (6.1) and steals (26). Paige O'Neal also scores in double figures, averaging 10 points per game and is coming off a career-best 20-point effort in the win over Nebraska Wesleyan. O'Neal leads the GPAC with 53 assists and is 10 shy for 10th place all-time. Arianne Gesell is scoring nine points per game and is shooting 71% from the floor. Morgan VanDerSloot (6.2) and Whitney Vander Maten (6.1) share team-high honors with 13 three-pointers.
