All-Time...Northwestern is 27-22 all-time against Doane and has won eight straight games against the Tigers. The Red Raiders are 9-1 over the last 10 match-ups with its last loss in 2008-09.
Doane News and Notes...The Tigers are in ninth place in the GPAC with a 1-6 record, 4-8 overall. Their lone win in league play was a 75-70 victory over Mount Marty last week. Doane has lost to Briar Cliff, Hastings, Dordt, Midland, Concordia and Dakota Wesleyan in conference play.
Tracee Fairbanks is in her 15th season as the head coach of the Tigers and returns three starters and six players off a 2012-13 team that finished 1-19 in the GPAC, 6-22 overall.
Doane averages 75 points per game while shooting 43% from the field. They average five three-pointers per game, shooting 33% from beyond the arc. Defensively, Doane gives up 73 points per game and holds a +6 advantage on the boards.
Hannah Dostal leads Doane in both scoring and rebounding, averaging 17.4 points and 8.3 rebounds per game. A two-time all-GPAC pick, Dostal is shooting 53% from the field. Another returning starter, Shelby Bittinger, scores 13.2 points per game while Heather Broman scores 12.4 points. Hannah Barnard leads the team with 28 three-pointers in her first season at Doane.
Northwestern News and Notes...The Red Raiders are in first place in the GPAC with a 6-0 record and have climbed all the way to second in the most recent NAIA poll with a 13-0 overall record. They have several wins over ranked teams, including Jamestown, Valley City State, Morningside, Briar Cliff, Midland and two teams from the NAIA D-I; MidAmerica Nazarene and Benedictine.
Northwestern is the top scoring team in the GPAC, averaging 96 points per game, second most in the NAIA. They are third in the NAIA in both field goal percentage (49%) and three-point percentage (38%) while leading the nation in rebound margin (+14.6). Defensively, the Red Raiders are giving up 67 points per game.
Karen Hutson leads the team in scoring, averaging 19.1 points per game. The junior is shooting nearly 60% from the field and ranks second on the team in rebounding (6.1). Alli Engebretson puts in 18.8 points per game and leads the team with 41 three-pointers, shooting 42% from beyond the arc. The senior needs just 20 more points to reach the 1,000-point milestone. Samantha Kleinsasser averages 15.8 points and a team-best 8.2 rebounds per game. She is shooting 54% from the field. Mackenzie Small scores 11.5 points per game and is second on the team with 24 three-pointers. Paige O'Neal is second in the NAIA with 77 assists.
