Northwestern won its 10th straight game last night as they defeated 22nd-ranked Mount Marty 88-59 in Yankton, S.D. The second-ranked Raiders improved to 14-0 in the GPAC, 23-1 overall while Mount Marty slipped to 7-6 in the conference, 17-8 overall.

Trailing by four (36-32) at the break, Northwestern outscored the host Lancers 12-1 over the first four minutes of the second half to take the lead for good. Moments later, with a 51-46 advantage, the Raiders began a game-clinching 19-0 run that lasted over five minutes and gave them a 70-46 lead. Both Mel Babcock and Val Kleinjan sparked the scoring run with six points each while Mackenzie Small had a three-pointer during the rally.

Northwestern shot 48% for the game, including 64% in the second half where they outscored Mount Marty 56-23. Four Raider players scored in double figures, led by Becca Hurley with 21 points. It marked the ninth straight game the senior guard scored 20 or more points. Hurley pulled down six boards and five assists to go with three steals. Val Kleinjan scored 17 points and totaled three assists while both Kami Kuhlmann and Kendra De Jong netted 11 points. De Jong pulled down a team-best 12 boards for her eighth double-double of the season. Northwestern controlled the boards, outrebounding MMC 42-29, and committed just 12 turnovers compared to 24 for the Lancers.

Mount Marty shot 43% for the game but just 29% in the second half. Jenny Miller scored 21 points and dished out six assists while Kylie Gross added 12 points. Cassie Neth scored 11 points and pulled down 11 rebounds.

Northwestern plays host to Hastings on Saturday, Feb. 5 at 2:00 pm.
