The Red Raiders earned an important conference win as they defeated Mount Marty 98-82 in Yankton, S.D. With the win, Northwestern improved to 12-0 and matched their best start in the program's history. They also began the 2005-06 season with a 12-0 mark.

Northwestern trailed 6-5 early on but then outscored the hosts 15-2 over a four-minute span to take command. The Red Raiders also went on scoring runs of 12-2 and 14-2 during the first half to take a 53-32 lead at intermission. They held their biggest lead, 67-44, with 15 minutes left in the second half. Mount Marty never got closer than 16 points the rest of the way.

The Red Raiders shot 61% from the floor, 68% from beyond the arc, compared to 45% by the Lancers. Debbie Remmerde, who leads the NAIA in scoring average, netted 31 points on 13/17 shooting. Amy Larson scored a career-high 27 points in the win as the senior made 7/9 three point attempts. Mandy Carr scored 10 points, grabbed five rebounds and dished out three assists.

Northwestern, ranked second in last week's NAIA poll, improved to 12-0, 3-0 in the league. They will have nearly three weeks before their next game at Augustana (S.D.) on Dec. 28.
