The Event... The Northwestern College women's golf team opens its spring season this afternoon at the Morningside Invitational. Play begins at Whispering Creek Golf Club in Sioux City, Iowa around 11:00am.

teamCompetition...Today's field will include Morningside, Briar Cliff, Dakota Wesleyan University, Northwestern, Dana, Iowa Western Community College, and Sioux Falls.

Red Raider Line-up...Maggie Achterhof, Rachelle Pedersen, Andria Hinz, Anne Eberline, Sara Horn, Leigh Van Hove and Caitlyn De Cock is the most likely NWC line-up.

Last Time Out... Last Fall on Oct. 5, Northwestern competed in the second of four rounds in the GPAC Championship and the Red Raiders placed seventh, shooting a second-round total of 357, three shots in back of both Morningside and Briar Cliff with a 354. Northwestern has a two-round total of 701 and dropped to seventh place overall. Andria Hinz shot an 87 and tied for 19th place in the second round. The sophomore from Cottonwood, Minn. shot a 42 on the front and 45 on the back to finish with a 14-over 87 and moved up one spot and is tied for 20th place overall after two rounds. Three Raiders, Maggie Achterhof, Rachelle Pedersen and Sara Horn, all shot a 90 and tied for 23rd place in the second round. Achterhof is tied for 12th place overall with a two-round score of 167, 22 shots in back of the overall leader, Danielle Bellet (148). Horn is in 23rd place with a two-round total of 179. Anne Eberline shot a 96, tied for 38th place and stands in 28th place overall. The second round was played at the Pioneers Golf Club in Lincoln, Neb. The final two rounds will be played this spring.

About the Fall Season...Northwestern finished in the top five in six of the eight meets they competed in last fall. They placed second at the Lady Reiver Fall Classic, had three third place showings and finished second on two occasions. The Red Raiders recorded a team average of 350.

Individually, junior Maggie Achterhof carried a team-best 81.1 stroke average with three top-five finishes and four in the top 10. Senior Rachelle Pedersen played in just three fall Maggiemeets but posted the second best average (87.7), placing in the top 10 in one event. Andria Hinz had two top 10 finishes and carded an 87.9 average while Anne Eberline (91) and Sara Horn (92.9) are the other top individuals.

Up Next...Northwestern will next play in the third round of the GPAC Championship on Saturday, April 10. The meet is hosted by Dana College in Blair, Neb.
