NWC Invite

The Northwestern College women's golf team continued their fall season by placing fourth and eighth in the 13-team Red Raider Invite. The 2008 event was played at the Landsmeer Golf Club in Orange City, Iowa. The Red Raider Red team shot a 352 and finished fourth while the NWC White team finished eighth with a 365. Waldorf College won the invite with a 327 while USF (331) and Dakota Wesleyan (333) placed second and third, respectively.

Individually, coach Hoftyzer's squad was led by senior Carrie Spree who tied for fifth overall with an 81. Spree shot a six-over 42 on the front nine and followed with a three-over 39 on the back nine. Sophomore Maggie Achterhof carded an 87 and tied for 16th place. Kelsey Shiflett (91) and Rachael Koenigsburg (93) tied for 30th and 34th, respectively. Andria Hinz led the White team with an 89 and tied for 21st place. The freshman from Cottonwood, Minn., carded a 47 on the front nine and closed with a six-over 42 on the back. Senior Lisa Wiersma tied for 21st place with a 90. Overall medalist honors went to Kelli Baseley who shot a one-over 73 while the runner-up medalist was Valeria Cogollo with a six-over 78.
