The Event... The Northwestern College women's golf team resumes play this morning in the second round of the GPAC Championship. The second round will be played at the Pioneers Golf Club in Lincoln, Neb. The Red Raiders are set to tee off around 11:00 - 11:30 am. First Round Reults and Standings... Dakota Wesleyan carded a 320 and finished in first place at the first round of the GPAC Championship played on Sept. 15 at the Elmwood Golf Course in Sioux Falls, S.D. USF is in second place with a 322, followed by Morningside (338) and a tie for fourth place between Briar Cliff (344) and Northwestern (344). Individually, Michaela Carew (BCU) is the overall leader after the first round with a two-over 74. Sarah Gilbert (USF) is in second place with a 75, followed by Kelli Baseley (DWU) with a 76. The Raiders were led by Maggie Achterhof with a five-over 77 and tied with two others for fourth place. Anne Eberline, Andria Hinz and Sara Horn are all tied for 21st place with an 89. Last Time Out... Northwestern last played on Sept. 15 in the first round of the GPAC Championship.
Raider Line-Up...Coach Hoftyzer's line-up will be: Maggie Achterhof, Rachelle Pedersen, Andria Hinz, Anne Eberline and Sara Horn. Achterhof leads the Raiders with a 79.9 stroke average this fall. The junior finished in the top five in four events, including three second place finishes. Achterhof shot a season-low 77 at both the Red Raider Invite and GPAC Championship #1. Pedersen is second on the team with an 86.5 average, playing in two events this fall. She carded a season-best 83 at the Red Raider Invite. Hinz sports a stroke average of 88 with two top 10 finishes. Eberline (90.3) and Horn (93.3) round out the line-up.
As a team, Northwestern boasts an average of 350 with a team-best score of 340 at the Lady Reiver Fall Classic.
This concludes the fall season for the women's golf team.
