Northwestern Places Fifth at Region III Championships

The Northwestern College women's golf team finished in fifth place out of seven teams at the 2008 NAIA Region III Championships played at the Elmwood Golf Course in Sioux Falls, S.D. The Red Raiders shot a two-day total of 714, eight shots in back of both Dana and Hastings who tied for third with a 706. Dakota Wesleyan ran away with the team championship as the Tigers shot a 659, 35 shots in front of second place USF (694). Northwestern Maggiecarded a 362 on day one and shaved 10 shots off on day two for a 352.

Individually, the Red Raiders were led by freshman Maggie Achterhof who tied for 11th overall with a 173. Achterhof carded a 91 on day one and posted the fifth best score on day two with an 82. Sophomore Anne Eberline placed 19th with a 179 (89/90) while Melissa Hisel and Carrie Spree tied for 23rd with a 181. Paige Kleinwolterink rounded out the Red Raider golfers with a 189, good for 32nd place.

This marks the end of the Red Raiders 2008 season.
