Katie Nieuwsma (Oskaloosa, Iowa) has signed a letter of intent to continue her basketball career at Northwestern College next year.

The daughter of Dan and Marla, Nieuwsma is a 5-9 guard who played for Pella Christian High School. She averaged 15.4 points, five rebounds, four assists and 3.5 steals last season. Nieuwsma earned first team INA All-State and all-conference honors for two consecutive years. In addition, she was named to the Des Moines Register First Team All-State as a senior. A member of the National Honor Society and recipient of the Citizenship Award, Nieuwsma plans to major in nursing at Northwestern.

“Katie is an intense competitor who excelled in multiple sports in high school,” commented Head Coach Earl Woudstra. “She has a great ability to attack the basket and make the players around her better. We are very excited to have Katie join us at Northwestern and look forward to the contributions she will make to our program and campus community.”
