Winterfeld, Mahlum to Play Basketball at Northwestern College

Kelsi Winterfeld (Sioux Center, Iowa) and Emily Mahlum (Adel, Iowa) have signed letters of intent to continue their basketball careers at Northwestern College next year.

The daughter of Doug and Sheryl, Winterfeld is a 5-10 guard who played for Sioux Center High School. Winterfeld earned all-conference honors two Winterfeldstraight years and averaged 11.7 points, 4.6 rebounds and three assists last season. An outstanding student, Winterfeld plans to major in elementary education at Northwestern.

“Kelsi is a quality person with great character who comes from a very successful basketball program at Sioux Center High School,” commented head coach Earl Woudstra. “She is a guard who both can attack the basket and be very effective shooting from the perimeter. Kelsi has a good understanding of the game and we look forward to the contributions she will make to the basketball program and to the campus community.”

Mahlum is a 6’1” forward who played for Adel-DeSoto-Minburn High School. She averaged nearly 12 points, seven rebounds and two blocks per game last season. Mahlum is a two-time all-conference and all-district player. She plans to major in psychology at Northwestern. Mahlum is the daughter of Dan and Sue.Mahlum

“Emily has made great strides as a basketball player in the last two years and we look forward to her continued development as a player,” commented Woudstra. “She has the opportunity to give us added depth up front and we are excited to have a young lady of her character and Christian commitment join us at Northwestern.”
