Deb Remmerde (Rock Valley, Iowa) has signed as an unrestricted free agent with the Houston Comets. The senior guard will head to the Comets' training camp, which will begin April 20. Head Coach Karleen Thompson's Comets' squad finished the 2007 season with a 13-21 record and was 18-16 in 2006.

Apr 9 Remmerde Getting Some Interest as WNBA Draft Approaches
Senior guard Debbie Remmerde (Rock Valley, Iowa) is getting some interest from a few WNBA teams as the annual draft approaches. Two teams in particular, the Detroit Shock and Houston Comets, have made some inquiries concerning the sharp-shooter's availability. The WNBA draft begins this afternoon around 1:00 pm and features three rounds with 14 players selected in each round.

Head Coach Earl Woudstra earned Rawlings-NAIA Coach of the Year Honors after leading his team to the 2008 NAIA D-II Women's Basketball National Championship. He was one of four coaches, each from a different division in the NAIA, who received the honor.

Mar 19 Red Raiders are National Champions!
The Northwestern College Red Raiders are the NAIA D-II Women's Basketball National Champions! With a strong second half, sparked by a 13-0 Red Raider run, Northwestern College defeated top-seeded College of the Ozarks (Mo.), 82-75. It is the second national championship for the women's team as they end the season with a 35-2 overall record. Northwestern also won the championship back in 2001.

Mar 18 Boekhout Scores 1,000 Points in Red Raider Basketball Career
Miranda Boekhout became the 22nd player in Northwestern College women's basketball history to score 1,000 points in their career. The senior from Marcus, Iowa, scored 15 points as the Red Raiders (34-2) defeated Morningside College (Iowa), 93-69, in the semifinals of the 2008 NAIA D-II Women's National tournament played in Sioux City, Iowa.

Mar 18 Northwestern to Play Ozarks for National Championship
The Northwestern College women's basketball team will play for the NAIA D-II Women's Basketball National Championship this evening as they take on top-ranked College of the Ozarks (Mo.) at 6:30 pm. The Red Raiders have won eight straight games and are 34-2 overall while Ozarks is 35-1 on the season and won 23 straight games. Mar 18 Red Raiders Advance to Championship Game With 93-69 Win Over Morningside
The Northwestern College Red Raiders advance to the championship game with a resounding 93-69 win over GPAC rival Morningside in one of two Final Four games this evening. It will be the third championship game for the Red Raiders (1-1) and the first since their national championship season in 2001. They will play College of the Ozarks (Mo.) in the final at 6:30 pm. The Bobcats needed double overtime to outlast Hastings (Neb.) in the other semifinal, 79-75. The Bobcats have been ranked first all season long and are 35-1 this season.
Mar 18 Remmerde, Larson, Woudstra Recognized Nationally
Seniors Debbie Remmerde were recognized by the NAIA today for their basketball talents. Remmerde was named the NAIA Women's Player of the Year for the second time in her career (2005-06) while Larson was named to the an All-American for the first time in her career, making the list as a Third Teamer. Head Coach Earl Woudstra was named the NAIA DII Women's Basketball Coach of the Year.
Mar 17 Northwestern Battles Morningside in the Final Four
This time it counts! Northwestern College will face GPAC rival Morningside for the fourth time this season, only this time the stakes are a great deal higher. The top-seeded Red Raiders, ranked third in the final poll, square off against the Mustangs, also a top seed and ranked second in the final NAIA poll, in the Final Four. The winner advances to play in the NAIA Championship game tomorrow night at 6:30 p.m. against either top seed College of the Ozarks or #2 seed and GPAC rival Hastings. Mar 16 Northwestern Women's Basketball Team Advances to Final Four
Northwestern advances to their fourth Final Four as they defeated Black Hills State, 91-69, in the Elite Eight, Saturday night in Sioux City, Iowa. The Red Raiders improve to 33-2 and will play GPAC rival Morningside in the second semifinal game on Monday night (8:00pm) at the Tyson Events Center.
Mar 15 Northwestern to Play Black Hills State in Elite Eight
The Northwestern College Red Raiders continue the tournament trail this evening as they take on Black Hills State (S.D.) at 8:00 pm tonight in the Elite Eight. NWC, one of the top seeds at the national tournament, is 32-2 overall and has won six straight games. The Yellow Jackets are a third seed and carry a 28-5 overall record into tonight's contest. Mar 14 Northwestern Advances to the Elite Eight With 86-57 Win over Cornerstone
The Red Raiders jumped out to an 18-2 lead and rolled to a 86-57 victory over fifth seeded Cornerstone (Mich.). With the win, Northwestern improves to 32-2 and advances to the Elite Eight for the fifth time in school history. They are one of four GPAC teams in the round of eight (Concordia, Hastings, Morningside).

The Northwestern College women's basketball team defeated Morningside 83-79 to win the GPAC Postseason Tournament Championship. With the win, the third-ranked Red Raiders improve to 30-2 overall while Morningside, ranked second, falls to 30-3 and is handed their first loss in 28 games. The third ranked Red Raiders defeated Doane in the quarterfinals of the GPAC tournament, 80-70. With the win, Northwestern, seeded second in the postseason tournament, improves to 28-2 overall and will host fourth-ranked Hastings on Saturday, March 1 at 2:00 pm.

Feb 16 Red Raiders Win 14th Straight; Remmerde Sets New Single Game Scoring Record
The Red Raiders recorded an 84-76 come-from-behind win over the host Doane Tigers Saturday afternoon in Crete, Neb. Northwestern won their 14th straight game and improved to 26-1 overall, 16-0 in the GPAC. Debbie Remmerde set a new school record with 51 points, breaking her own previous mark of 50 set earlier this season against South Dakota Tech.

Feb 15 Red Raiders to Play Doane in GPAC Women's Basketball Match-Up
The Red Raiders will visit Crete, Neb. to take on Doane College on Saturday, Feb. 16. This will be the second meeting between the two squads and features another GPAC match-up featuring teams in the national rankings. Northwestern is ranked second with a 25-1 mark and are 15-0 in the GPAC. Doane is receiving votes in this week's poll and has a 16-11 overall record, 9-6 in the GPAC.

Feb 10 Coach Woudstra Earns 300th Career Win; Red Raiders Defeat Concordia, 91-77
Head Coach Earl Woudstra earned his 300th win as the Northwestern College Red Raiders defeated Concordia (Neb.), 91-77, in a GPAC showdown of top 10 women's basketball teams. Northwestern, ranked second in the NAIA, won their 12th straight game and improved to 24-1 overall, 14-0 in the GPAC. The ninth-ranked Bulldogs fell to 22-4 overall, 11-4 in the GPAC.

The Red Raiders will travel to Seward, Neb. to play Concordia in a key GPAC women's basketball contest. Both teams come in being ranked in the top 10 as Northwestern is second in the NAIA with a 23-1 record, 13-0 in the GPAC. The Bulldogs are 22-3 overall and 11-3 in the league. The Red Raiders won their 11th straight contest and tied a school record for most points in a game as they knocked off USF, 110-66. Northwestern, ranked second in the NAIA's Feb. 6 poll, improved to 23-1 overall and 13-0 in the GPAC. The Cougars fell to 7-17 overall, 3-10 in the GPAC.

Feb 2 Red Raiders Win 10th Straight; Down Nebraska Wesleyan 80-39
The Red Raiders won their 10th straight game as they defeated Nebraska Wesleyan, 80-39, in the Bultman Center. With the win, NWC improved to 22-1 overall and remain unbeaten in GPAC play with a 12-0 record. They are tied for first place in the league with Morningside and ranked second in the NAIA.Coach Woudstra's squad went on a 15-0 run in the first half to take control against the visiting Prairie Wolves. They led by 19 at halftime, 35-16, and held NWU to just 17% from the field in the first half.

Northwestern will go for their 10th straight win as they host Nebraska Wesleyan Saturday afternoon in the Bultman Center. Jan 24 Northwestern Wins Seventh Straight; Defeat Lancers 85-77
The Red Raiders remained perfect in the month of January and won their seventh straight game with a 85-77 win over Mount Marty last night in the Bultman Center. Northwestern, ranked second in the NAIA, improved to 19-1 overall and remain unbeaten (9-0) in the GPAC. Mount Marty fell to 2-7 in the league, 8-10 overall.

Rylee Hulstein (Sioux Center, Iowa) has signed letters of intent to continue her volleyball and basketball careers at Northwestern College beginning in the fall of 2008.

Debbie Remmerde (Rock Valley, Iowa) scored a game-high 23 points, which set the new career NAIA D-II women's basketball and Iowa Collegiate scoring records, in the Red Raiders 80-70 win over Briar Cliff. Northwestern, ranked second in the new NAIA poll, improved to 17-1 overall, 7-0 in the GPAC while BCU falls to 10-11 overall, 4-5 in the GPAC.

The Northwestern College women's basketball team remains undefeated as they record a 107-104 come-from-behind, overtime win over #16 South Dakota Tech. The Red Raiders improve to 9-0 overall while the Lady Hardrockers fall to 6-2. Debbie Remmerde set a new school record with 50 points as the senior went 18/25 from the field, 10/13 from beyond the arc, and a perfect 4/4 from the free throw line. She surpassed the 3,000 point milestone and has now scored 3,018 points in her career.

he Red Raiders improved to 8-0 overall this season with a 106-62 win over GPAC rival Dordt College Tuesday night in the league opener for both teams. Northwestern scored over 100 points for the fourth time this season and matched last year's start with eight consecutive wins. Their best start ever was during the 2005-06 season in which they began the year 12-0 en route to a 30-5 season in which they lost in the Final Four.

The Red Raiders improved to 4-0 this season with a 100-56 win over William Woods (Mo.) Saturday afternoon at the USF Classic. Northwestern led from start to finish as they jumped out to a 12-4 lead and 32-15 with seven minutes left in the first half. They led 51-28 at the half and outscored William Woods, 49-28 in the second half.
