The Red Raiders jumped out to an 18-2 lead and rolled to a 86-57 victory over fifth seeded Cornerstone (Mich.). With the win, Northwestern improves to 32-2 and advances to the Elite Eight for the fifth time in school history. They are one of four GPAC teams in the round of eight (Concordia, Hastings, Morningside).
Coach Woudstra's squad shot 61% in the first half en route to a 49-20 halftime lead. They ended the game shooting 55% from the floor. Debbie Remmerde scored a game-high 36 points and made 6-of-8 three pointers. Amy Larson added 19 points, six rebounds and three assists. Randa Hulstein scored nine points and was one three NWC players with six boards. Northwestern dominated the glass for the second straight game, 49-27.
The Red Raiders will play either Eastern Oregon or Black Hills State tomorrow night at 8:00 pm.
