Remmerde Earns GPAC Player-of-the-Year; Six Red Raiders Earn All-League Honors

Debbie Remmerde earns GPAC Player-of-the-Year honors and headlines a list of six Red Raiders who earn 2008 all-conference honors. The senior guard from Rock Valley, Iowa led the NAIA averaging nearly 30ppg. She also led the nation in three pointers (108), three point (53%) and free throw percentage (97%). Remmerde, who became the all-time leading scorer in NAIA D-II history this season, has scored over 3,600 points in her career and is fifth all-time in NWC history with 812 rebounds. She has earned all-GPAC honors for the fourth time and is a three-time NAIA All-American.Deb

Joining Remmerde on the first team is senior guard Amy Larson. The 5-6 sharp-shooter from Denison, Iowa, ranked fourth in the league averaging 17.3ppg. Larson is fourth in the NAIA with 89 three pointers and ranked sixth in the NAIA shooting 45% from beyond the arc. Earlier this season, she became the 21st player in the program's history to score 1,000 points in their career. Larson also averaged three rebounds per game.Amy

Crystal Algood earned second team all-league honors. The senior from Brookings, S.D. averaged 8.6 points and ranked seventh in the league averaging 7.5 rebounds per game. Algood was second in the GPAC in field goal percentage (61%) and led the NAIA with 97 blocks. She is the all-time leading shot-blocker in NWC history with 333 blocked shots and is 12th all-time with 629 rebounds.Crystal

Miranda Boekhout, Mandy Carr and Becca Hurley earned honorable mention all-conference honors. A senior from Marcus, Iowa, Boekhout averaged 7.1 and five rebounds per game. She also led the league in assists (182), fourth in the NAIA, and is program's all-time leader with 606 assists. Boekhout also ranks 10th all-time with 673 rebounds and has scored 985 points in her career. Carr, a 5-9 senior guard from Sioux Center, averaged 5.3 points and 4.8 rebounds per game. She also ranked third in the GPAC with 161 assists and is second all-time in school history with 531 assists. Carr is also second all-time in steals. Hurley, a 5-9 freshman from Pleasant Hill, Iowa, averages eight points and 3.3 rebounds per game this season. She ranked 10th in the GPAC in field goal percentage (49%) and made 31 three pointers.Miranda

Northwestern, ranked third in the final NAIA poll, is 30-2 and won the GPAC Postseason Conference Tournament. They qualified for their seventh national tournament which will be played in Sioux City and begins March 12.Mandy
