Northwestern Women's Basketball Team Wins Eighth Straight; 85-57 Over Dana

The Red Raiders won their eighth straight game as they recorded a 85-57 road win over Dana College in GPAC women's basketball. Northwestern, ranked second in the NAIA and one four league teams in the top 10, improved to 20-1 overall and 10-0 in the GPAC.

Northwestern trailed early on, 7-0, before a 14-11 run, capped off by a Debbie Remmerde three pointer, put the Red Raiders up for good with 11:37 left to play in the first half. NWC used another big run late in the half to lead 38-22 at the intermission.

Coach Woudstra's squad cruised in the second half as they shot 63% from the field and outscored the Vikings 47-35.

For the game, NWC shot 60% from the floor and held Dana to just 32% from the field. The Red Raiders held a big advantage on the boards as well (46-23) and outscored the Vikings 40-22 in the paint. Debbie Remmerde led three NWC players in double figures with 33 points. Amy Larson and Randa Hulstein added 13 and 10 points, respectively. Remmerde, Hulstein and Crystal Algood pulled down seven rebounds each while both Miranda Boekhout and Mandy Carr dished out five assists.

Northwestern will next host Dordt College on Wednesday, Jan. 30 at 6:00 pm.
