Northwestern to Host Midland Lutheran in GPAC Women's Basketball

Game Time... The second-ranked Red Raiders host Midland Lutheran this evening in a GPAC contest rescheduled from December 1. Tipoff for the league game is at 7:30 pm.

Scouting Report...The Warriors enter tonight’s contest with a 7-12 overall mark, 2-6 in the GPAC. Since a 67-62 win over Briar Cliff on Dec. 8, the Warriors have lost seven straight games, including five in the GPAC. Last time out, MLC fell to Dana on Jan. 19, 69-67. A very close game throughout, the Warriors tied the game at 67 on a three pointer by Karmen Jericevic with nine seconds remaining. Dana, however, on the ensuing possession, scored the game-winner with three seconds left to play to get the win. Jericevic scored a game-high 26 points followed by Marcy Hauschild with 11 points and seven rebounds.

Head Coach, Joanne Bracker, in her 38th season with the Warriors, has accumulated over 700 wins in her storied career at MLC. Bracker’s squad is led by Karmen Jericevic, an honorable mention all-GPAC player last year, who is averaging 15 points per game. She ranks eighth in the league with 68 assists. Allie Rippe leads the GPAC averaging nine boards per contest to go with her 13.3 points per game.

Red Raider Notes... Northwestern remained perfect in the GPAC with a 80-70 win over Briar Cliff last Wednesday, Jan. 16. NWC led by as much as 21 points in the second half before a Charger run cut the lead down to five with under five minutes left to play. The Red Raiders, scored the next five points however, to go back up by 10 and earned the hard-fought road win. They improved to 17-1 overall and remain second in the NAIA poll, one of four GPAC teams in the top 10.

Debbie Remmerde scored a game-high 23 points and in the process, became the all-time leading scorer in NAIA D-II and Iowa Collegiate women's basketball. She now has scored 3,252 points in her career as a Red Raider. Amy Larson netted 18 points in the win over the Chargers, including four three pointers, and increased her league leading total to 63 three pointers this season.

Next up... Northwestern will host Mount Marty as part of a GPAC doubleheader on Wednesday, Jan. 23. Tipoff for the women’s contest will be at 6:00 pm. The Red Raiders will then travel to Blair, Neb. to play Dana this Saturday, Jan. 26.
