All-Time...Northwestern leads the all-time series 49-10 and has won 13 straight matches against the Chargers.

Scouting Briar Cliff...The Chargers have climbed back into the NAIA coaches' poll, earning votes this week after winning their last five matches. Since a 3-0 loss to Midland on Sept. 20, BCU has wins over Mount Marty, Hastings, Nebraska Wesleyan, Morningside and Benedictine. They are currently in third place in the GPAC with a 5-2 record, 15-4 overall.

Trevor Schirman is in his second season as the head coach of the Chargers' volleyball program. Schirman was a long-time assistant at the University of California-San Diego prior to coming to BCU. He returns four starters off a 2013 team that finished 8-8 in the GPAC and qualified for the NAIA National Championship for just the second time in the history of the program. BCU went 1-2 in pool play, earning its first ever win at the national championship, and ended the year with a 20-17 record.

The Chargers are fourth in the GPAC in kills (12.7) and rank seventh in hitting percentage (.197). They are seventh in blocks (1.8) and ninth in ace serves (98). Breanna Nogelmeier, an honorable mention all-GPAC selection last year, is the top hitter and blocker, hitting .350 and putting down 2.2 kills and one block per set. Rachele Harrill puts down 2.5 kills per set as one of the outside hitters while rightside hitter, Katelin Langel, a transfer from Coe College, leads the team with 2.7 kills per set. Dani Helland directs the BCU offense and ranks seventh in the league with 7.5 assists per set.

Northwestern News and Notes...Northwestern has won six consecutive matches and is currently in first place in the GPAC with a 7-0 record, 20-2 overall. Ranked sixth in the NAIA for the third straight week, Northwestern is 9-2 against teams ranked or earning votes.
