Game Time... The Red Raider volleyball team resumes play this weekend as they take part in the College of St. Mary Classic in Omaha, Neb. Coach Van Den Bosch's squad, ranked fifth in the NAIA, will bring its 3-1 record to the Classic where they will play four matches in two days. They open against Johnson and Wales (Colo.) at 4:00 pm on Friday followed by an 8:00pm match against Tabor (Kan). Tomorrow, NWC will take on Haskell Indian Nation (Kan.) at noon and the host Flames at 6:00pm. Follow along via the CSM Website at the following link: Flames Website

The Teams...10 teams will compete at the CSM Classic, including five GPAC teams: Concordia, Dordt, Hastings, Morningside and NWC.

Scouting Report...Johnson and Wales (Colo.): The Wildcats are coming off a winless 2008 season (0-19) but return most of their key players. Head Coach Nicole Krause returns for her second season with the Wildcats and her squad will be led by 5'7" outside hitter, Robyn Kenul, who led the team with 1.5 kills per set. Lexie Gibbons, a 5'8 setter, put up 3.9 assists while Anjennae Hoffman averaged 2.2 digs per set last season. Johnson and Wales plays in the NAIA Independent League and are 0-1 this season. They lost to Colorado College in straight sets (25-12, 25-10 and 25-10.)

    Tabor: The Bluejays play in the KCAC Conference and return five of their top eight players. Head Coach Amy Retzlaff, who took the reins in 1999 and begins her 11th season at Tabor, guided her team to a 16-15 overall record, 11-6 in the KCAC in 2008. They will be making their season debut this weekend. Returning for the Bluejays are 5'10 senior outside hitter Ashley Cohimia, who belted a team-best 2.9 kills per game and 65 ace serves last season. Joining Cohimia up front is a pair of 6'0 sophomores, Jordan Crosson and Gina Hullet. Crosson is the top returning blocker, totaling 90 last season, to go with her 1.9 kills per set. Hullet averaged 1.9 kills and totaled 42 blocks. Mandi Phillips takes over the full-time setting duites after a freshman season in which she averaged 3.1 assists and ranked third on the team with 32 aces.
