Olivet Nazarene at Northwestern

The Red Raiders remained perfect on the season with an impressive 3-0 win over 23rd-ranked Olivet Nazarene (Ill.). Northwestern did not drop a set during the tournament and improved to 4-0 this season. Olivet Nazarene dropped to 1-3 for the tournament.

Northwestern was in the groove as they hit .333 en route to a 25-13 win in set one. The Red Raiders continued to put the pressure on ONU in set two as they pulled away for a 25-18 win. The third and final set proved to be the toughest for NWC as they edged Olivet Nazarene 25-23 for the straight set win. The Red Raiders hit .310 for the match and recorded 11 total blocks.

Randa Hulstein led the offensive with 15 kills and three blocks. The junior middle hitter hit .577 for the match and also went a perfect 8-of-8 from the service line. Hillary Hanno recorded nine kills and two ace serves while Kate Buyert added six kills and two blocks. Kaitlin Beaver totaled 35 assists and two ace serves for the victors while both Rylee Hulstein and Janna Bloemendaal led the back row with 13 digs.

The Red Raiders open GPAC play this Wednesday night against Dakota Wesleyan at 6/7:30pm. The match can be seen and heard over the NWC webcast with pregame starting around 7:15 pm.
