Northwestern improved to 2-0 in the young 2008 volleyball campaign as they knocked off Black Hills State (S.D.), 3-0, late Friday night. Individual set scores were: 25-13, 25-13 and 25-16. The Yellow Jackets, who received votes in the NAIA preseason poll, fall to 0-2 this season.

The Red Raiders cruised to a pair of 25-13 wins in games one and two behind the hitting of sophomore Hillary Hanno and junior Randa Hulstein. The duo combined for 20 kills for the match, including several in the first two sets. Northwestern controlled the net with 38 kills, 16 total blocks and an attack percentage of .308 for the match.

Hanno led NWC with 12 kills and six digs while Hulstein added eight kills, four digs and one block. Kate Buyert and Bobbie jean Rich posted five kills each while Buyert dominated the net play with seven total blocks. Janna Bloemendaal and Rylee Hulstein led the back row with 19 and 17 digs, respectively.

Coach Van Den Bosch's squad will continue play at the Red Raider Classic tomorrow at 1:00 pm against Grand View.
