Kristen Humphrey (Lincoln, Neb.) and Shelby Schoon (Brandon, S.D.) have signed letters of intent to continue their volleyball careers at Northwestern College next fall.
The daughter of Patrick and Lori, Humphrey is a 5’7” setter who played three years for Lincoln Christian High School. She recorded 391 assists, 152 digs and served 94% with 28 aces her senior year. Humphrey earned all-conference honors for two consecutive seasons and earned honorable mention all-state accolades as a senior. In addition, Humphrey earned the Sertoma Award for outstanding performance in volleyball. A great student who is a member of the National Honor Society, Humphrey plans to major in math at Northwestern.
“Kristen possesses outstanding Christian character and has a real passion for the game of volleyball,” commented Head Coach Kyle Van Den Bosch. “She will add depth to our setters group and we look forward to her contributions on and off the court.”
Schoon is a 5’6” setter who played two seasons for O’Gorman High School. She ranks third all time at O’Gorman in assists and is fifth all-time in assists per season. Schoon served 96.2% for her career, second best all-time in school history. She earned South Dakota Volleyball Coaches Association Academic All-State honors and plans to major in business and history at Northwestern. Schoon is the daughter of Rob and Peggy.
“Shelby is a great fit for Northwestern,” commented Van Den Bosch. “She will provide depth at the setter position and are excited that she has decided to join the Red Raider volleyball program.”
