Hughes to Play Volleyball at Northwestern

Courtney Hughes (Orange City, Iowa) has signed a letter of intent to continue her volleyball career at Northwestern College next fall.

HughesHughes earned all-conference honors in four different sports at MOC-Floyd Valley High School. The 5-8 defensive specialist/left-side hitter totaled 184 digs and 159 kills her senior year and recorded a 91% serve receive percentage for her career.  She also helped lead her team to a Siouxland Conference co-championship, while the Lady Dutch reached the sub-state round before falling to eventual state champion Heelan.  She earned all-conference honors, was voted the team captain and received the team defense award.  An outstanding student who earned Academic All-Conference honors and is a member of the National Honor Society, Hughes plans to major in nursing at Northwestern. She is the daughter of Dave and Nancy.

“Courtney is a perfect fit for Northwestern,” commented Head Coach Kyle Van Den Bosch. “She played four sports in high school and will now concentrate on volleyball in college. We are excited that Courtney has decided to join our Red Raider volleyball program.”
