The Northwestern College volleyball team dropped one spot to 10th in the final NAIA volleyball poll released late Sunday afternoon. The Red Raiders finished conference play with a perfect 16-0 record and were seeded first in the 12-team, single-elimination postseason tournament. They defeated Dana and Doane en route to the championship match but lost 3-0 to second-seeded Morningside in the title game Saturday night. Northwestern is 27-7 overall. The NAIA also released the qualifiers for the 29th Annual NAIA Volleyball National Championship and Northwestern secured its third consecutive trip to the national tournament and eighth overall. Coach Van Den Bosch's squad earned a first round bye by finishing in the top 12 in the final rankings and will open pool play on Dec. 2 in Sioux City, Iowa. They are one of four GPAC teams in the tournament field, along with Morningside, Dordt and Doane. Like NWC, Morningside earned a first round bye and will head directly to the final site. Both Dordt and Doane will host an opening round match on Saturday, Nov. 22, with the winner advancing to Sioux City on Dec. 2.
