Westenberg Inducted into Iowa Girls' Coaches Association Volleyball Hall-of-Fame

Wayne Westenberg, an assistant coach for the Northwestern College volleyball team, was inducted into the Iowa Girls' Coaches Association Volleyball Hall of Fame. The ceremony took place on November 17 in Carroll, Iowa.Ass't Coach Westenberg

Westenberg coached at the high school level for a total of 22 years for Sanborn and Unity Christian where he amassed a 593-108-33 record. He led Unity Christian to 10 state tournaments, winning the championship five times in 1990, 1993, 1996, 1997 and 2000. He was voted Iowa State Coach-of-the-Year five times and was voted into the National High School Coaches Hall of Fame in 1999. He is now in his second season as the assistant for the Red Raiders. Westenberg is part of a coaching staff that has led NWC to back-to-back national tournaments in 2006 and 2007. This year's squad is currently 28-10 and will open play at nationals on Nov. 28 against Westminster College (Utah).
