The Red Raiders fall in the regional championship, 3-1, to second seeded National American. Individual game scores were 30-22, 28-30, 30-21 and 30-24. Northwestern drops to 28-10 overall and will have to wait until tomorrow afternoon for the national tournament selection committee to award the final at-large bids to see if they make the 20-team tournament field. With the win, National American receives the only automatic bid awarded to Region III.
Northwestern hit .124 for the match and were led by senior Megan Meyer with 16 kills and 24 digs. Randa Hulstein hit .296 for the match and recorded 12 kills and four blocks. Kaitlin Beaver added 11 kills and 16 digs. Rachel Gosselink lofted up 52 assists and in the process became the Red Raiders' single season record holder with 1,693 assists. The old record of 1,658 was held by Kristi De Boer and set in 1992. Janna Bloemendaal and Karrisa Davelaar totaled 20 and 15 digs, respectively.
