Northwestern won their sixth straight game and third consecutive road game as they knocked off Doane, 3-2. The Red Raiders improve to 9-3 in the league, 21-7 overall and trail first place Morningside and Hastings by just one game.
The Red Raiders lost the first two games, 30-26 and 30-25, but came back to win game three, 30-25. Northwestern then recorded a come-from-behind 30-26 game four win and won the final game, 15-10.
Five NWC players recorded over 10 kills, led by senior Megan Meyer with 17. Kaitlin Beaver added 13 kills and led the Red Raiders with a .256 hitting efficiency. Hillary Hanno and Karrisa Davelaar added 12 kills apiece and Randa Hulstein totaled 11 kills and eight blocks. Rachel Gosselink served up 64 assists and had two ace serves. Davelaar and Janna Bloemendaal led NWC with 22 digs.
Northwestern, ranked #18 in last week's poll, will host three league games this week, beginning with USF on Tuesday, Oct. 23. They will then play Midland Lutheran and Dana at home this weekend.
