Red Raiders Sweep Past Mount Marty in GPAC Volleyball

The Red Raiders defeated Mount Marty, 3-0, in GPAC volleyball action last night in the Bultman Center. Northwestern won their third straight match and improved to 18-7 overall, 6-3 in the GPAC.

Leading 7-5 in game one, NWC outscored Mount Marty 10-1 to jump out to a 17-6 advantage en route to a 30-12 win. In game two, the Red Raiders scored the first five points and closed the game with a nine point run to win, 30-12. Mount Marty grabbed the lead early in game three (7-6) before another big run put the Red Raiders up, 20-14. NWC then scored the final eight points for a 30-16 win in the decisive game.

Megan Meyer registered a game-high 17 kills and hit .467 for the match. She also amassed 14 digs. Hillary Hanno totaled 10 kills while Randa Hulstein added seven kills and four blocks. Janna Bloemendaal and Delainye Hardersen combined to go 30/30 from the service line with one ace.

Northwestern has the rest of the week off before three more matches, all on the road, next week. They travel to Sioux City to play Briar Cliff on Wednesday, Oct. 17, at 7:30 pm.
