Red Raiders Sweep Past Weekend Foes

The Red Raiders swept past both Dakota Wesleyan and Nebraska Wesleyan this weekend in GPAC volleyball action. They improve to 5-3 in the GPAC, 17-7 overall.

On Friday night, NWC defeated Dakota Wesleyan 3-0 for the second time this season. Individual game scores were 30-21, 30-16 and 30-13. The Red Raiders recorded 45 kills in the three games and hit .418 for the match. Bobbie jean Rich and Megan Meyer led the way with 12 and 10 kills, respectively. Rachel Gosselink served up 39 assists and went a perfect 13/13 from the service line. Delainye Hardersen also had an impressive night serving with two aces and just one error in 19 chances.

Northwestern then defeated Nebraska Wesleyan in three straight by the game scores of 30-19, 30-22 and 30-26. NWC totaled 48 kills and hit .289 for the match against the Prairie Wolves. Hillary Hanno hammered out a game-high 16 kills in 24 chances and hit an impressive .625 for the match. Kaitlin Beaver added 11 kills, eight digs and two ace serves as well. Both Janna Bloemendaal (17/17) and Delainye Hardersen (18/18) went perfect from the service line. Hardersen chipped in two aces while Bloemendaal recorded a game-high 13 digs.

Coach Van Den Bosch's squad will next host Mount Marty on Wednesday, Oct. 10, at 6:00/7:30 pm. They will have the rest of the week off before taking to the road for three important  conference matches next week, beginning with Briar Cliff on Oct. 17.
