Track and Field To Make Indoor Season Debut

Meet Info...The Northwestern College track and field team will make their 2017 indoor season debut at the Dordt Open this weekend in Sioux Center, Iowa. Field events get underway at 9:30am while the first running events will begin at 10:30am. The meet will conclude around 4pm.

Outlook...

The Northwestern women finished seventh out of 12 teams at the GPAC Indoor Championship last season as 10 Red Raider entries earned all-conference honors (finished in the top 8). Five Red Raiders are back who earned all-conference honors in an individual event; Jahdai Dunk (60m), Katie Landhuis (800m), Rebekah Muilenburg-600m, Sarah Lunn-Mile and Jordyn Oostra-60m hurdles. Both the 4x400 and 4x800 relays earned all-conference honors both relays return team members. Muilenburg (600m) and the 4x400 were All-Americans last year...Muilenburg, Landhuis and Emily Sorensen return from the relay. 

The Northwestern men placed fifth out of 11 teams at last year's GPAC Championship and earned all-conference in nine events. Five athletes return after earning all-conference honors last year: Levi TeBrink (400m), Tim Rose, Tanner Goetsch and Peter Smith (Mile), Will Norris, Goetsch and Smith (3000m) as well as both the 4x400 and 4x800 relay teams. The 4x800 went on to earn All-American honors at the NAIA Indoor Championships. 

Up Next...Northwestern will compete in a meet hosted by South Dakota State University next Friday, Jan. 20 in Brookings, S.D.
