The Event... The Northwestern track and field teams will compete this weekend at the Dordt Invite on Friday, Feb. 12. The meet will begin with several field events at 4:00pm, followed by the first running events at 4:15pm with the women's 4x800m relay. The Teams... Eight full teams will be competing at the meet, including Northwestern, Dakota State, Dakota Wesleyan, Morningside, Briar Cliff, Mount Marty, Dordt and USF, along with a couple of partial squads from Augustana and South Dakota State.
Last Week... The Northwestern College track and field team competed at the John Dalton Invite in Vermillion,S.D. last Saturday and three Raider athletes and one relay team turned in top five performances. Corrie Fautsch placed fourth in the 600m run with a time of 1:41.23 while teammates Krystina Smith (1:45.6) and Teresa Scholten (1:45.7) placed ninth and 10th, respectively. Stacey Dietrich crossed the finish line in fourth place in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.47, just missing the provisional qualifying mark by .05. Ana Morgan turned in the other top five performance, placing fifth in the 400m with a time of 1:02. The women's 4x400 relay team turned in the best finish of the meet, placing second with a time of 4:09.68. Relay members include: Dietrich, Morgan, Fautsch and Smith. Other top finishers for the women's team include: Leslie Stover (10th) in the 800m with a time of 2:32.37, Rebecca Wiggins (10th) in the 1,000m with a time of 3:29.5, Jenna Sorensen (8th) and Corrine Muyskens (10th) in the one mile with times of 5:39.5 and 5:53, Jana Olson (10th) tied the school record in the pole vault (10-00) and Kara Den Herder (9th) in the weight throw with a toss of 45-04.25.
The men's team was led by freshman Brandon Schuler who placed seventh in the 1000m with a time of 2:41.6. Andy Norris placed 10th in the 800m with a time of 2:04.11 and the men's 4x400m relay team placed 10th with a time of 3:36.19. Team members include Kyle Sauter, Brandon Hammack, Mark Johnson and Taylor Hoekstra. In the field events, Derrious Johnson led the way with a 10th place finish in the triple jump with a leap of 40-02.25.

Two more athletes, Shannon Bowar in the 60m hurdles and Ana Morgan in the 400m, are seeded 17th and 16th in their respective events.
Up Next... Northwestern will compete in the GPAC Indoor Championships next weekend (Feb. 19-20) in Crete, Neb. and Lincoln, Neb.
