Northwestern To Host Track and Field Camp

Northwestern College will host a track and field camp available for all high school athletes in grades 9-12 on Saturday, Feb. 25. The camp will take place at the indoor track and field practice facility in the Rowenhorst Student Center. Scott Bahrke, the head track and field coach at NWC, will serve as the camp director, and will be assisted by Tim Vander Ploeg (Assistant Track and Field Coach), Karl Bahrke (Assistant Coach-Sprints) and Levi Ettleman (Assistant Coach-Throws).

The primary purpose of this camp is to provide high school track & field athletes with event-specific instruction in the sprints, hurdles, jumps, shot put and 400m-800m runs. We will cover the basic principles of training in each event as well as proper technique and form drills. Our desire is to help athletes build a solid foundation in the technical aspects of their events for the upcoming track season.

There will be two sessions offered:

Session 1, 9am-Noon: Hurdles, Sprints, High Jump and Shot Put (check in at 8:45am)
Session 2, 1-4pm: Long Jump, Sprints, 400/800m runs (check in at 12:45pm)

*Each athlete can register for up to ONE event per session (ie: session 1-hurdles, session 2-sprints). Spots for each event offered will be guaranteed to the first 15 athletes who register. Deadline to register is Friday, Feb. 10, 2017.
